Chocolate Truffles
This recipe only came out at Christmas and Valentine's. I'm not sure why but I know I am not the only one who does this. It is strange because chocolate is great all year round and these decadent morsels make great hostess gifts, birthday treats, and hope you're feeling better soon packages.
- 3-1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 can condensed milk (300 ml)
- 1 tbsp vanilla, rum, or brandy extract
- Chocolate sprinkles
- Melt chocolate chips and condensed milk in a heavy-bottomed saucepan.
- Stir constantly until ingredients come together and thicken.
- Remove from heat and stir in extract.
- Let stand for 20 to 30 minutes before handling.
- Roll small portions of the mixture with the palms of your hands into a 1-inch ball.
- Place the ball into sprinkles of choice and completely cover.
- Place the ball onto wax paper.
- Repeat steps 5 to 7 until all of the chocolate mixture has been used up.
- Allow candy to set before storing in an airtight container.
Other Coating Ideas: Cocoa powder, ground almonds, coconut, ground hazelnuts, icing sugar, coloured sprinkles.
