My Group of Seven

To The Girls: Gladys Carlaw, Mona McTeer, Margaret Howe, Fern Picard, Lois McTeer, Joy Patterson and Margaret Gregg. A special thanks to Gladys; God rest her soul, for insisting that she and her group of close friends be the first to have lunch at the Paisley tearoom. Because of them, I opened the tearoom for lunch well ahead of schedule on Thursday, October 4, 2001.

Even though they had to say goodbye to four of their friends during our seven and half-year time period, they had managed to keep their traditional Thursday gathering going for more than 30 years. I really miss their smiling faces and interesting conversations. I will always remember their wonderful words of encouragement and praise as well as the warm hugs before they made their way back home.

I would like to extend a special thank you to Joy and Sid Patterson's family for bringing them in for one last lunch on January 17, 2009. It was a sad but lovely farewell to the Ivy Tea Room.
